Former Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been appointed as Red Bull’s global head of soccer. The 57-year-old German, who left Anfield in the summer after a successful tenure, which included winning multiple trophies, will take up his new role on January 1. He will be responsible for overseeing Red Bull’s network of clubs around the world.
In a statement released by Red Bull, it was stated that Klopp will not be involved in the day-to-day operations of the clubs but will instead focus on supporting the sports directors in promoting the Red Bull philosophy. Klopp will also use his vast network in football to assist in talent scouting and contribute to the training and development of coaches within the organization.
Klopp expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, stating his passion for football remains unwavering after almost 25 years in management. He emphasized his desire to work on developing and nurturing football talent within the Red Bull setup. Klopp sees his role as that of a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs, aiming to leverage Red Bull’s knowledge and experience to explore new possibilities in the sport.
Red Bull owns several football clubs worldwide, including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, and Brazilian clubs Red Bull Bragantino and Red Bull Brasil. The company also holds a minority stake in Leeds United and is their shirt sponsor.
