Met Gala reveals co-chairs for 2025 fashion event

The Met Gala has officially announced its co-chairs for the 2025 fashion event. The prestigious Met Gala is an annual fundraising event held in New York City on the first Monday in May to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The upcoming exhibit for the Costume Institute is titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” as revealed by Vogue on Wednesday, October 9.

The exhibition is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity” from 2009. It will showcase a collection of garments, paintings, photographs, and more, exploring the distinctive style of Black men in the context of dandyism from the 18th century to the present day.

Grammy-winning producer and Louis Vuitton’s Menswear Creative Director, Pharrell Williams, has been announced as one of the co-chairs for the 2025 Met Gala. Joining him will be Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, actor Colman Domingo, and legendary basketball player LeBron James, who will serve as an honorary co-chair. Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, will once again oversee the Met Gala as co-chair.

Last year’s Met Gala featured an exhibit titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which displayed 50 historically significant pieces. Attendees were required to adhere to a dress code inspired by JG Ballard’s short story, “The Garden of Time.”

The dress code for the 2025 event will be announced early next year, according to Vogue. Notable personalities such as Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, and Anna Wintour co-chaired the 2024 Met Gala. Anna Wintour famously has the final say on the guest list for the event.

A ticket for a seat at the Met Gala reportedly costs $75,000, while a table is priced at a minimum of $350,000. The 2025 Met Gala is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
