Two Jet2 passengers from Edinburgh were removed from a flight by police in Germany on Tuesday following disruptive behaviour that led to the plane being diverted to Cologne. The flight, LS781 headed to Dalaman in Turkey, was rerouted to Cologne after the pilot deemed it necessary due to the incident involving the disruptive passengers. The disruptive individuals were later ejected from the aircraft, as confirmed by authorities. Videos from the scene show local officers boarding the plane in Cologne and approaching the disruptive passengers, while fellow passengers watched in shock.
The flight eventually continued its journey and reached Dalaman three hours behind schedule, departing from Edinburgh shortly after 4 pm on October 8. According to reports, the flight data from FlightRadar24 indicated that the plane departed Edinburgh on time but had to depart Cologne at 9.30 pm instead of reaching Dalaman at around 10.30 pm. A Jet2 spokesperson stated that two passengers were offloaded due to disruptive behaviour, which also affected the flight schedule, prompting the airline to provide hotel accommodation and refreshments to the affected passengers.
Following the incident, a statement from Jet2 revealed that the disrupted flight had to make an additional stop in Dalaman on its way back to Edinburgh due to the delay caused by the disruptive passengers. The airline mentioned that arrangements had been made for hotel stays and refreshments for the passengers affected by the disruption before continuing their journey to their final destination.
