Renowned hairdresser and This Morning regular, Trevor Sorbie, has opened up about his terminal bowel cancer diagnosis, revealing that he has only a few weeks left to live. The 75-year-old shared the heartbreaking news during an appearance on the daytime chat show on Wednesday, 9th October, alongside his wife Carole.
Sorbie disclosed that he received the devastating prognosis in June, with doctors estimating that he has approximately six months left to live. Despite the grim outlook, he expressed his determination to make it to Christmas. During the live interview with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Sorbie shared his emotional reaction upon learning about his condition, recounting the moment he was informed about the bowel cancer diagnosis.
Following his medical diagnosis, Sorbie underwent surgeries to address the cancer that had spread to his liver. Despite the procedures, he revealed that the cancer persisted, rendering it inoperable due to its proximity to a vital blood vessel. Despite his health challenges, Sorbie continued working at his salon two days a week, describing his career as his “medicine” and the essence of his life.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sorbie has catered to a host of celebrity clients, including Helen Mirren, Bryan Ferry, Grace Jones, and The Beach Boys. An MBE recipient in 2004, he is renowned for creating the iconic wedge haircut. In addition to his hairstyling accolades, Sorbie shared his dedication to charity work, particularly his initiative, My Wig Hair, which assists individuals undergoing cancer treatment by providing realistic wig cutting services.
