In a chilling revelation by the Sunday Mail just weeks before his death, Peter Tobin, one of Scotland’s most notorious serial killers, was captured in his final photograph. The newspaper obtained an image showing Tobin chained to a hospital bed, gravely ill and under close watch in September 2022.
Tobin, who was 76 years old at the time, was receiving palliative care as his health deteriorated. Tragically, he passed away on October 8, 2022, following a fall in his cell at HMP Edinburgh, where he was serving three life sentences for the murders of three young women. Among his victims were Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, Vicky Hamilton, 15, and Dinah McNicol, 18, all murdered between 2006 and 2007.

Following his death, Tobin was quietly cremated, and his ashes were later disposed of at sea without any formal service. Edinburgh City Council took charge of the funeral arrangements after no relatives came forward to claim his body.
