Trump calls Whoopi Goldberg ‘demented’ during Pennsylvania rally full of personal attacks

Former President Donald Trump launched a series of personal attacks during a rally in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday. Amidst his speech, Trump targeted actress and TV host Whoopi Goldberg, referring to her as “demented” and “disgusting”. The rally, held in a key swing state, served as a platform for Trump to criticise his opponents, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris and those who recently engaged with her, including Goldberg.

In his typical confrontational style, Trump took aim at Harris’ appearance on The View, labelling it as “stupid” and criticising the hosts as “really dumb people”. However, his focus shifted to Goldberg, a vocal Trump critic and co-host on The View. Trump recounted his past interactions with Goldberg, claiming she once praised him and predicted his success if he ever ran for president. Yet, in more recent times, Goldberg has used strong language to condemn Trump.

During the rally, Trump also targeted radio host Howard Stern for his interview with Harris, describing Stern as “weak” for asking soft questions. Trump expressed his disappointment in Stern, emphasising his decision to sever ties with him. Additionally, Trump’s speech included attacks on various other figures, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Utah Senator Mitt Romney, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, among others.

Trump’s insults towards Goldberg, Harris, and other prominent figures reflect his combative rhetoric often displayed during his rallies. Despite concerns raised by his staff about the impact of such language on female voters, Trump dismissed these worries, asserting that women “like me anyway” and denouncing any suggestion that his words could affect his reputation among female voters.

In conclusion, Trump’s Pennsylvania rally not only showcased his penchant for personal attacks and divisive language but also underscored the ongoing tensions in American politics as the country approaches the upcoming election.
