An air ambulance was required to make an emergency landing on the M11 motorway due to a significant ‘police incident’ that led to major disruptions and a standstill on the main road. The incident unfolded at approximately 9.09 am, resulting in the closure of the southbound carriageway of the Essex motorway on Friday morning. A previous statement on the National Highways website stated: “The M11 is closed southbound between J8 (Stansted) and J7A (Harlow) due to an ongoing Essex Police led incident. The northbound carriageway is currently held to facilitate the air ambulance landing at the scene.”
Essex Police has confirmed, “The M11 is currently closed in both directions between junctions 7 and 8 due to a serious collision, affecting slip roads around Stansted Airport.
