Human head found in box left on Chicago street; police launch investigation to find out how it got there

A shocking discovery was made in Chicago as a human head was found inside a box on the west side of the city. According to reports, the Chicago Police Department responded to a call on the 2600 block of West Taylor Street just before 6 pm. A witness informed the authorities that they came across the box while walking along the sidewalk and upon inspecting it, made the gruesome finding. Initially, the witness had hoped it was a Halloween decoration, as per NBC 5 Chicago.

Law enforcement officials are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and how the head ended up in the box. Following the discovery, the Chicago Police Department issued a brief press release stating that a man walking his dog made the chilling discovery of the unknown victim’s remains inside the box on the sidewalk.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified about the human remains found in the box. Shockingly, this incident was not an isolated one, as just earlier in the week, skeletal remains were discovered in another area of Chicago. The Illinois State Police reported that the skeletal remains were found near the Kennedy Expressway at Webster Avenue. The identity of the victim in that case has not yet been established.

At the moment, the Chicago Police Department has not provided further details about either case. The police are working diligently to gather more information and piece together what happened in these disturbing incidents. Residents in the area are understandably on edge as the investigations unfold into these gruesome findings in their community.
