A Renfrewshire man labeled as “a danger to women” has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sexual assaults on six victims in Paisley. Callum Monson, 28, was convicted of crimes including rape, domestic abuse, and sexual assault against women between 2019 and 2023. The High Court in Paisley heard that Monson raped a woman in 2015 when he was 19 years old.
Between 2019 and 2021, at two locations in Paisley, Monson subjected another partner to domestic abuse, which included verbal abuse, taking her phone, and physical assaults. He also abused another woman between 2021 and 2022 at various addresses, intimidating her, restricting her from seeing friends and family, and coercing her into intimacy.
In March 2022, Monson sexually assaulted his fourth victim in Paisley while under a court order. He assaulted a fifth victim in July 2022 and raped another woman in 2023. Judge Sean Murphy KC sentenced Monson to seven years in prison with three years of supervision. Monson was also placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
Detective Inspector Euan McMillan from Police Scotland’s public protection unit stated that Monson’s actions were violent and sexual, causing harm to multiple women. McMillan commended the victims for reporting the crimes and encouraged other victims to come forward, assuring full support from the authorities.
