Tiny Miracle Baby Born Premature During Seaside Break Finally Goes Home After 94 Days in Hospital
A miracle baby born almost four months premature during a seaside break in Blackpool has been able to go home for the first time, three months after her birth. Parents Jenna Lauder, 36, and Gary Gibson, 37, were enjoying a vacation in Blackpool when Jenna unexpectedly went into labour on July 2 this year. Little Hope was born at 2lbs 1oz and was immediately transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Preston. Jenna, Gary, and their two-year-old son Vinnie stayed by Hope’s side in Preston until they got the green light to return home.
In a heartwarming turn of events, the family was able to fly back to Scotland, more than two months earlier than expected, in a private plane provided by charity Lia’s Wings. Hope continued her treatment at Forth Valley Royal Hospital (FVRH) before being discharged last week. After spending a total of 94 days in two hospitals, Hope now weighs 7lb 1oz and is recovering at home under the loving care of her family, including her doting big brother Vinnie.
Jenna expressed her relief at having Hope home, although she acknowledged the new challenges of caring for her without the immediate assistance of hospital staff. The family had faced financial strain due to the unexpected circumstances, but the community in Stirling rallied together to raise funds to support them during this difficult time. A total of £6,320 was raised, helping alleviate some of the financial burden as the family stayed near the hospital in Preston.
Both Vinnie and Hope were conceived through IVF, marking a long and challenging journey to parenthood for Jenna and Gary. Despite the initial uncertainties surrounding Hope’s premature birth, the family’s resilience and the support from their community have been instrumental in their journey.
As Hope continues to thrive at home, her family is grateful for the outpouring of support and generosity that has helped them navigate through a challenging time.
