Police discovered that Miller was in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, along with presenting fake VIP and press passes at a checkpoint.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated to the Southern California News Group that the items found in Miller’s possession were alarming enough to raise suspicion of another assassination attempt being prevented. The suspect, identified as a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was taken into custody without incident and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on charges of possessing a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine.
Despite the arrest, law enforcement assured the public that the safety of former President Trump and rally attendees was not compromised. Sheriff Bianco revealed that Miller identified himself as a registered Republican associated with a right-wing anti-government group and claimed to be a ‘sovereign citizen’ exempt from governmental jurisdiction.
