Actress Julia Fox has spoken out about her regrets regarding her short-lived relationship with musician Kanye West, describing it as one of the most uncomfortable positions she has ever been in. The 34-year-old star dated the rapper, 47, following his split from his wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, during a time when West was under scrutiny for his controversial online remarks.
In an interview with The Times, Fox revealed that she never intended for her relationship with West, now legally known as Ye, to go public. She expressed feeling like a “pawn” in their involvement, stating, “I regret that relationship so much. I hate it! It was only a few weeks but enough to last me a lifetime. I was in probably the most uncomfortable position in my life and that’s saying a lot. I don’t want to be known for being anyone’s girlfriend.”
Despite the public backlash she received for dating West so soon after his separation from Kardashian, Fox disclosed that she was not the one who wanted their relationship to be made public. She felt used as a pawn in a situation that spiraled out of her control. The actress also shared that she and West never consummated their relationship, engaging instead in activities like playing Uno together.
Their relationship hit a breaking point when West asked Fox to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused to do. She recounted that West texted her saying, “I can’t be friends with you if you don’t sign it,” to which she responded, “I’ll live.” Fox credited her son as her grounding force, leading her to walk away from the turmoil surrounding her involvement with West.
Reflecting on the experience, Fox stated that she holds no resentment towards West now and emphasized the importance of forgiveness for personal growth. She acknowledged that dwelling on past grievances only harms oneself in the long run. The Independent reached out to West’s representative for comment on the matter.
This is not the first time Fox has spoken publicly about her relationship with West. In her memoir, “Down the Drain,” released in October 2023, she detailed their initial interactions and West’s efforts to make their relationship public shortly after meeting on New Year’s Day 2021.
