Families with deep-rooted traditions in competitive pumpkin growing, like the Dill family and their Dill’s Atlantic Giant Pumpkin species, have become legendary in the community.
Among the heavy hitters in the competition are Dave and Carol Stelts, Pennsylvania growers who recently broke the state record with a pumpkin weighing 2,464 pounds. With two more weigh-offs on the horizon, the Steltses are aiming to exceed their personal best and secure a spot in the coveted “6900-pound club” on the GPC website. Their dedication and passion for growing these colossal pumpkins have positioned them as strong contenders for the title of Grower of The Year.
