An American living in the UK has rated British crisps, and his favourite may surprise you. US citizen turned Londoner Kjordyyy is known for documenting his new life on British soil. When you move to a different country, all sorts of things are new. From the lifestyle to the cuisine to the people – there’s all sorts of change you have to get used to. Kjordyyy recently moved to the UK from America, and one thing has left him totally baffled – British crisps.
It turns out certain brands of British crisps have left him totally perplexed because they’re so different to versions in the US. He’s super impressed with some of our classic favourites though. In a recent clip, he said Walkers is one of the most popular brands, which look “just like Lays.” This is mostly because the crisps are marketed under different brands in different parts of the world.
Kjordyyy ranked Walkers crisps around a 7/10, but praised the fact that you can get share packets that are individually wrapped. He gave a “nod to the Brits” for appearing to think about portion control, as he claimed you can only get large bags of crisps in the US. Next, he moved onto Monster Munch and compared them to a cheese puff, but with vinegar. He also showed people a bag of Skips, but he “can’t get behind it,” only ranking the product a 3/10. He added, “Mini Cheddars is banging by the way. This is the closest thing we have to Cheez-Its. It gets a solid 8/10.”
“Mccoy’s. It’s like a British Ruffles. I don’t know what they’re thinking with this one – Marmite crisps. Should be illegal.” “Now we’re getting to the gold mine – these are called Sensations. This is like the Taj Mahal of British crisps. If you guys have never had Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations, you’re missing out, and I honestly feel bad for you.” Since he shared the video, it’s been viewed thousands of times, and people were quick to comment too. Some couldn’t believe he wasn’t impressed by the humble Hula Hoops.
One person said: “Did he actually just hate on the beef Hula Hoops? Can’t behave in that.” Another wrote: “Skips are a 10/10. Something is wrong with your palette.” A third replied: “You mean you haven’t tried Pom Bears yet? Do it NOW.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Absolutely loving your food assessment.”
