Five people, including two children, have tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash on the M6 motorway. The incident, involving a Skoda and a Toyota, occurred near Tebay Services on Tuesday evening. Emergency services responded to the collision at 4:04 pm.
The driver of the Skoda, a man from Cambridgeshire, and the driver of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a woman and two children from Glasgow who were passengers in the Toyota also lost their lives in the crash. A third child involved in the incident was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries.
Authorities have notified and are providing support to the families of those involved in this tragic accident. The M6 Northbound was closed overnight following the crash but reopened in the early hours of the morning. National Highways North-west X account posted updates, stating the closure between J36 and J39 was due to a “v serious collision” and that the closure would remain in place for several hours.
