Three billionaires have made significant contributions totaling a massive $220 million to support the re-election campaign of former President Donald Trump. The trio includes Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Miriam Adelson, and Dick Uihlein, who have collectively donated to various groups backing Trump in the past three months.
Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest person, has been a prominent supporter of Trump, channelling close to $75 million to his pro-Trump America PAC between July and September this year. Musk’s contributions to the committee were substantial, with around $15 million in July, $30 million in August, and an additional $30 million in September.
Miriam Adelson, a prominent Israeli-American physician, poured an impressive $95 million into her Preserve America PAC, with donations of $25 million in July, another $25 million in August, and a staggering $45 million in September. Adelson, who co-owns the Dallas Mavericks, has also made appearances alongside Trump at campaign events, underlining her support.
Meanwhile, Dick Uihlein, the CEO of Uline, a shipping company, donated $48 million to the conservative Restoration PAC. His contributions amounted to $2.3 million in July, $17 million in August, and $29 million in September, according to the filings with the Federal Election Commission.
Elon Musk has not only shown his support for Trump through financial contributions but also by appearing at rallies. Recently, Musc addressed a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on October 5, reiterating the importance of Trump winning for preserving democracy in America.
On the other side of the political spectrum, Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic opponent, has received support from tech entrepreneurs. Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz donated $3 million in August to FF PAC, while Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings donated $1 million to the same group in the same month. Harris’ primary fundraising committee, Harris Victory Fund, raised an impressive $633 million from July to September, significantly surpassing Trump’s equivalent group, Trump 47, which earned $145 million during the same period.
With just 19 days remaining before the November election, these significant contributions from billionaires on both sides highlight the intense competition and financial backing shaping the current political landscape.
