Jimmy Kimmel has taken a dig at Donald Trump for his claim to be the “father of IVF” during an all-female town hall on Fox News. The event, held in Cumming, Georgia, featured moderator Harris Faulkner and saw Trump describing Alabama Senator Katie Britt as “a fantastically attractive person” before asserting, “I’m the father of IVF.”
Despite Trump’s campaign later clarifying that he was joking, Kimmel didn’t pass up the chance to mock the bold statement on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! The host jokingly remarked about the town hall, where approximately 100 women were present, and the discussion touching on IVF and abortion rights.
Highlighting the potential threats to IVF access following conservative shifts on abortion rights, Kimmel quipped about Trump’s sudden enthusiasm for IVF and his self-proclaimed title as the “father of IVF,” dating back to 1978 when the first child was conceived using the treatment. The comedian didn’t miss the opportunity to poke fun at Trump’s reticence to admit paternity, jesting, “This guy won’t even admit he’s the father of Eric – he’s the father of IVF.”
Kamala Harris, the Vice President, also chimed in, describing Trump’s claim as “quite bizarre.” Additionally, Kimmel teased about Trump’s reaction to Fox News giving his Democratic rival a primetime slot for an interview with host Bret Baier. The interview highlighted contentious topics like illegal immigration and saw Baier taking a tough stance, possibly to impress his Fox News colleagues, as Kimmel humorously suggested.
Wrapping up his monologue, Kimmel alluded to the pressure on Baier to toe the Fox News line before jokingly referencing the Fox News personalities’ reactions and Trump’s potential viewership habits. The comedian weaved satire and light-hearted jibes into his commentary, ensuring an entertaining and engaging take on the latest political developments.
