A mother’s caution after a botched facelift has forced her to postpone her wedding. Katie Lowden, a 34-year-old from Braintree, Essex, underwent a facelift procedure in July 2022 involving dermal fillers and Botox to boost her confidence. Previously satisfied with lip fillers from the same clinic, Katie was initially unconcerned. However, she developed granulomas on her face post-procedure, leading to ongoing swelling and an unrecognisable appearance.
Suspecting that unsuitable fillers were used, Katie’s condition worsened despite attempts by the clinic to dissolve the filler. In December 2022, a lump was discovered on her neck, initially feared to be cancer but later confirmed to be migrated filler. With her wedding plans on hold, Katie is undergoing corrective treatments at the Revere Clinic in London to restore her pre-procedure appearance.
Reflecting on her decision for the facelift, Katie described feeling pressured by past bullying and a lack of confidence, exacerbated by the toll of early motherhood on her appearance. The aftermath of the procedure left her with painful, pea-sized lumps on her face that escalated into severe swelling and discomfort.
Despite assurances from the clinic that the side effects would subside, Katie’s condition continued to deteriorate. Unsuccessful attempts to dissolve the filler only exacerbated the situation, causing recurring flare-ups and immense physical and emotional distress. The ordeal forced Katie to cancel her wedding and rely on antidepressants for support.
Determined to rectify the damage, Katie sought corrective procedures at the Revere Clinic, under the care of Dr Sach Mohan. Since August 2024, she has undergone multiple treatments to reverse the effects of the botched facelift. Katie remains optimistic about her recovery and looks forward to revisiting her wedding plans, hopeful that her face will eventually return to its pre-procedure state.
