Sebastian Vettel, the four-time Formula 1 world champion, has announced his return to racing in 2025 by joining forces with his close friend Mick Schumacher in what is being dubbed as a ‘super team’. Vettel retired from Formula 1 in 2022 after a successful 16-season career driving for teams such as Red Bull, Ferrari, and Aston Martin.
The racing comeback will take place at the 2025 Race of Champions in Sydney, where Vettel and Schumacher, the son of legendary seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, will team up for the ROC Nations Cup. The event, scheduled to be held at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, features pairs from around the world competing against each other for both the team and individual titles.
Vettel expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions and teaming up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney that looks like it will be a great venue for the Race Of Champions.”
Having previously won the individual Race of Champions in London in 2015 and securing the Nations Cup for Germany multiple times with Michael Schumacher, Vettel is no stranger to the prestigious event. Mick Schumacher, who endured a two-year stint in F1 before being dropped by Haas in 2022, is also eager to make a mark at the upcoming competition.
Schumacher stated, “Australia is one of my favourite places and representing Germany together with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will for sure be big fun.”
With Vettel and Schumacher looking to clinch victory in both the ROC Nations Cup and the individual Race of Champions, fans can expect an exciting showdown between the duo and other top drivers at the event. Schumacher is also in contention for a potential return to Formula 1 with Sauber (Audi) next year, which could impact his participation in future Race of Champions editions.
