He cited examples of human rights violations in various regions, including Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Haiti, and Myanmar, highlighting the dire consequences of these conflicts.
Speaking to reporters and the General Assembly’s human rights committee, Türk underscored the urgency of the current situation, stressing the need to protect human rights and prevent further atrocities. He expressed alarm at the erosion of international structures established after World War II to safeguard human rights, warning of the dangerous consequences of accepting civilian casualties in conflicts.
