The 75-year-old actress known for “It’s Complicated” and the 74-year-old star of “Father of the Bride” were photographed smiling as they entered Giorgio Baldi, a popular Italian restaurant, on October 16.
In pictures captured by Page Six, Streep wore a patterned satin blouse with breezy pants, while Short followed behind in a grey suit layered over two undershirts. The pair seemed delighted as they left the restaurant and headed towards Streep’s car.
The speculation about their relationship first arose at the 2024 Golden Globes when they were seen looking cozy beside each other throughout the ceremony. Despite initial rumours, their representatives were quick to clarify that they were simply friends.
Short addressed the rumours further on Bill Maher’s podcast, emphasizing that he and Streep are very close friends. While fans may be eager for a romantic relationship to blossom between the two icons, for now, they are focused on their professional partnership.
Most recently, Streep and Short appeared together in the series “Only Murders in the Building.” They attended the premiere of the fourth season holding hands on the green carpet and were also seen together at the 2024 Emmys, sparking more interest in their bond.

On the other hand, Short parted ways with his wife, Nancy Dolman, in 2010 after a 30-year marriage. Short and Dolman met in Canada in 1972.
