Author and storyteller Allison Galbraith will be sharing Funny Family Folktales at the Loreburn Centre in Dumfries, tomorrow (Saturday, October 19) at 2 pm as part of The Scottish International Storytelling Festival. The event, which is free to attend, will include woolly pets and songs suitable for all ages, linking with the region’s Wild Goose Festival.
Later in the evening, Allison will be teaming up with fellow storyteller Beverley Casebow at the Riverside Tap in Dumfries at 7 pm for an evening of Scottish Folktales: Bridges to the Otherworld. This event will feature tales about vexed fairies, nature wisdom, and the supernatural, infused with humour. The hour-long drop-in session is free for those aged 12 and above. Another notable participant in the Dumfries segment of the festival is guest storyteller Nuala Hayes, who will be joined by musician Aoife Granville at The Stove Cafe on Saturday, October 25 at 7 pm. Nuala Hayes, the founder/director of Dublin’s Storytelling Festival, is also an actor and broadcaster. The duo will present Stories and Songs of Ireland, an evening event supported by Culture Ireland, featuring tales inspired by the Irish people and places they cherish.
