A child and two adults were rescued from the sea at Aberdeen Beach as Storm Ashley brought strong winds to the area. Emergency services were called to the scene around 4pm on Sunday, October 20, where all three individuals were saved. They have been taken to the hospital, but no updates on their condition have been provided yet.
Police have advised the public to steer clear of the beach due to the severe weather conditions generating large waves. Weather warnings are in effect in various parts of the country until tomorrow morning. Sergeant Scott McKay cautioned, “We are aware of a number of people who are still in the beach area and we would urge them to leave as soon as possible for safety reasons. The weather we are experiencing is creating unsafe conditions and I would ask that you follow our advice.”
In light of the incident, authorities are stressing the importance of heeding safety warnings and staying vigilant during extreme weather events. The community is encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being during such conditions.
