A tragic incident unfolded in Texas as a 17-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed a 37-year-old man in front of his pregnant wife, leaving the family shattered. The young girl, who is the victim’s 16-year-old stepdaughter, had reportedly rejected the romantic advances of the perpetrator.
Cristian Gasca Martinez, the 17-year-old accused, was charged with the murder of Osvaldo Casas in Houston. Martinez had been allegedly stalking the victim’s stepdaughter leading up to the fatal incident on August 10, which resulted in Casas losing his life. The heart-wrenching event occurred as Casas was warned by neighbours of suspicious activity around his home, including vandalism to his car.
Provoked by the rejection of his romantic interest by the teenager, Martinez confronted Casas and fatally shot him outside their residence. Despite the best efforts of Casas’ pregnant wife to save him through CPR and calling emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries. Casas, described as a loving and kind individual by his wife, tragically passed away in her arms.
The devastated family, now coping with the loss of their beloved husband and father, started a GoFundMe campaign to help with the expenses following the tragedy. Their son was born just 13 days after the untimely death of Casas, adding another layer of sorrow to the already harrowing situation.
Martinez was apprehended and is currently detained at the Harris County Jail on a $200,000 bond. His court appearance was scheduled for Monday, October 21. The community is left reeling with shock and disbelief at the senseless violence that has torn apart a family and forever changed their lives.
