The latest meeting of the Lanarkshire Philatelic Society had an intriguing twist as the theme was “Postcards”. The members were treated to a variety of displays that took them on a journey around the world and closer to home through the vibrant postcards showcased.
The event featured displays of different locations, including the picturesque Fiji, the cruise ships of Hurtigruten in Norway, and the volcanoes of Mount Etna and Vesuvius in Italy. The presentations also included cards symbolising the “Nature of America”, views of Cardiff and LlanfairPG in Wales, and photography of Archibald Brown & Co.
Each member brought a unique perspective to the meeting, with displays ranging from disappearing Lanarkshire Post Offices to beautiful flower arrangements. The President, Alex Magowan, expressed gratitude for the diverse and captivating displays that made the event truly special.
The society’s next meeting is scheduled to take place at the Caledonian Bowling Club on November 1 at 1.30pm, where guest Dr. David Cumming will present his display on “Argentina Revisited”.
