During their time in Australia, the royal couple has participated in various activities, including a Fleet Review of the Royal Australian Navy in Sydney Harbour and a meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Parliament House. However, their visit to Canberra faced a moment of disruption when senator Lidia Thorpe expressed her discontent during a reception at the Australian parliament.
As King Charles addressed the lawmakers, Senator Thorpe interrupted by shouting, “This is not your land. You are not my King.” She continued to voice her protest, demanding the return of what she referred to as stolen treasures, including land, bones, skulls, babies, and heritage. Security swiftly intervened to remove Senator Thorpe from the chamber, ensuring the safety of the royal delegation.
Despite the interruptions, it is reported that King Charles has put his cancer treatment on hold to fulfil his duties during the tour. To ensure his well-being, two doctors are accompanying the royal entourage throughout the trip. This visit holds special significance for King Charles, as it marks his 17th time visiting Australia since his first trip in 1966 when he studied at a boarding school in Victoria for six months.
