CCTV footage has captured the chilling moment when 24-year-old Chris Kaba shot a rival gang member in a crowded nightclub. Kaba, known for his violent history and possession of weapons, can be seen firing at Brandon Malutshi at close range, causing panic among club-goers as they try to flee the scene. The balaclava-clad gunman is then shown chasing his victim through the streets of east London.
Shocking details of this incident emerged after Met Police marksman Martyn Blake was acquitted of Kaba’s murder during a police stop on September 6, 2022. The jury was unaware of the nightclub shooting that happened a week before, as well as Kaba’s extensive criminal record that began when he was just 13 years old. Kaba had previous convictions for possessing an imitation firearm and knife possession.
The CCTV footage revealed how Kaba discharged a smuggled revolver at a Notting Hill Carnival afterparty, where Malutshi, a member of the 17 gang, was targeted by Kaba from the rival 67 mob. The court heard that Kaba and his gang entered the club with concealed weapons, leading to a violent confrontation that resulted in Malutshi being shot but surviving the attack.
Despite suffering severe injuries, Malutshi managed to escape the club, but the footage showed Kaba pursuing him and firing several shots, hitting Malutshi in the right buttock. Emergency services were quick to respond, and Malutshi was taken to a hospital for treatment. However, he discharged himself that same evening against medical advice.
Six days later, Kaba met his fate when he was fatally shot by police in south London after his vehicle was linked to a shooting in Brixton. Following a trial, other members of Kaba’s gang were found guilty of wounding and possessing a firearm with intent. The court acknowledged Kaba as the shooter and highlighted the risks faced by innocent club-goers during the attack.
The incident was part of a power struggle within the 67 gang over drug territory, with prosecutors alleging that Malutshi was targeted for execution. The trial also revealed the discovery of antique revolvers in one of the gang member’s homes, further underscoring the dangerous nature of their activities.
