Irish police have initiated a search of the former family residence of eight-year-old Kyran Durnin, who has been missing for two months and is presumed deceased. The disappearance of the young schoolboy was reported to authorities on 30th August, alongside reports about his mother, who has since been located. The police commenced their search of the terraced house in Dundalk, Co Louth on Tuesday morning. Presently, the property is occupied by new tenants, who are not linked to the ongoing investigation. The house situated on Emer Terrace was under the ownership of Kyran’s family until May 2024, with unverified reports suggesting that Kyran might have been missing for up to two years. Irish premier Simon Harris has expressed that Kyran was “failed badly” and that there were significant issues in his case.
Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern addressed the media outside Dundalk garda station, stating: “Despite extensive inquiries conducted by the police so far, we have been unsuccessful in locating Kyran, establishing any information regarding his current whereabouts, or finding evidence of his current existence. Based on our investigations to date, the investigating officers now believe that Kyran is missing and presumed to be deceased.”
