Trump cashes in on McDonald’s stunt with new ‘MAGADonald’s’ merch

Donald Trump has capitalized on his recent McDonald’s stunt by launching a new line of limited-edition “MAGADonald’s” merchandise. The former president made headlines by working at a drive-thru in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, where he jokingly challenged Kamala Harris’ claim of having worked at the fast-food chain in the 1980s.

Following the event, the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee unveiled a new piece of apparel to commemorate the day – a MAGADonald’s T-shirt. Priced at $100, the white T-shirt features a picture of Trump in an apron, waving from the McDonald’s drive-thru window, with the slogan “MAGADonald’s” in the fast-food giant’s signature red and gold colours.

An email sent out as part of a fundraising campaign encouraged supporters to donate $100 in exchange for the T-shirt, with Trump declaring himself as the only 2024 presidential nominee to have worked at McDonald’s. This move comes as part of the wider range of merchandise already available in Trump’s online store, including the iconic Make America Great Again baseball caps and “fight, fight, fight” sneakers priced at $499.

Despite the humorous nature of Trump’s McDonald’s appearance, the fast-food chain distanced itself from any political endorsement, stating that it does not support any candidates for elected office. Trump, who has repeatedly claimed that Kamala Harris never worked at McDonald’s, used the visit as an opportunity to poke fun at the vice president.

During his short shift at the McDonald’s drive-thru, Trump playfully boasted about outworking Harris in terms of time spent at the restaurant. He even offered to cover the cost of food served to his supporters, adding a lighthearted touch to the event.

While the stunt was a blend of politics and comedy, it showcased Trump’s ability to engage with his supporters in unconventional ways. Whether the merchandise will gain traction among his loyal followers remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a unique twist to the ongoing political landscape as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
