Dumfriesshire Whisky Distillery Receives Rural Business Award
A Dumfries-based distiller, Claxton’s Whisky, operating from the Dalswinton Estate, has been recognised at the national Helping it Happen 2024 awards. The distillery was honoured with the Rural Business Award sponsored by Shepherd + Wedderburn. Over the past few years, Claxton’s Whisky and the estate have undertaken significant redevelopment projects, such as rejuvenating old farm buildings and constructing a new bonded warehouse. This achievement was celebrated at a prestigious ceremony in Edinburgh.
The Helping it Happen awards, now in their eighth year, aim to acknowledge outstanding contributions to the rural economy, employment, education, wildlife conservation, community wellbeing, and environmental stewardship. Organised by Scottish Land and Estates and sponsored by NatureScot, these awards are open to all, not just SLE members, and highlight innovative approaches to rural development, conservation, and community initiatives.
