Walmart has agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle a lawsuit in California regarding the improper disposal of hazardous waste. The lawsuit, filed by California officials, accused the retail giant of illegally dumping various hazardous materials, including batteries, insect killer aerosol cans, toxic cleaning supplies, electronic waste, latex paints, and more, into municipal landfills across the state.

The company will face a payment of $4.3 million in civil penalties and $3.2 million in reimbursements if the settlement is approved by an Alameda County Superior Court judge.
