Wiz Khalifa ‘indicted’ in Romania after smoking joint on stage

Wiz Khalifa Faces Indictment in Romania for Smoking Joint Onstage

Wiz Khalifa, the 37-year-old rapper from North Dakota, has been indicted for allegedly smoking cannabis during a music festival in Romania this summer. The incident took place at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinesti on the Black Sea coast, where Khalifa was arrested by authorities.

According to reports from local news source Romania Insider, the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in Romania has charged Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, for illicit drug use following an investigation by the Constanța Territorial Service. The Independent has reached out to DIICOT for confirmation and is awaiting a response from Khalifa’s representatives.

Khalifa issued an apology on social media following the incident, expressing that he did not intend any disrespect towards the country of Romania. In a post on X/Twitter, he stated, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up onstage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a** joint next time.”

The DIICOT reported that Khalifa was found in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis and had consumed additional cannabis in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette while onstage. Possession of cannabis is illegal in Romania, and under the law, Khalifa could face a prison sentence ranging from three months to two years or a fine.

This is not the first time Khalifa has made headlines for his drug-related activities. Last year, he admitted to being high on magic mushrooms while throwing the first pitch at a baseball game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians. Despite the controversies surrounding his drug use, Khalifa continues to be open about his marijuana consumption.

As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and followers of Wiz Khalifa await further updates on the outcome of the indictment in Romania.
