EKFC Boys Team Strikes Charity Partnership with Kilbryde Hospice
The EKFC 2012 boys team has recently established a charitable partnership with Kilbryde Hospice, bringing together grassroots football and fundraising for a good cause. The team, which competes in the Glasgow and District Under 13 Division 3, kicked off their partnership by presenting a cheque for £500 to the East Kilbride hospice. The goal is to organise various fundraising events throughout the season to support Kilbryde Hospice, which offers specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting progressive illnesses like cancer, COPD, and Parkinson’s.
In addition to raising awareness for the charity, which is also one of the team’s shirt sponsors, the boys aim to donate 50% of the funds they raise to Kilbryde Hospice. The team received a generous donation of £1,000 from Farmer Autocare, their home strip sponsor, with half of the donation going to the hospice. The boys have plans to host fundraising activities such as a sponsored run and a penalty shootout with the help of local businesses and the community.
Parent coach Gary Smithson expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the team’s commitment to supporting both the hospice and their football aspirations. Head coach Duncan Gracie emphasized the importance of such partnerships in helping youth organizations like EKFC 2012 provide valuable experiences and development opportunities for young players.
