British girl, 14, collapses and dies on holiday in Rome after family meal at pizza restaurant

A British teenager tragically passed away after dining with her family during a holiday in Rome. The 14-year-old girl, identified as Skyler by Italian media, was on a week-long break when the incident occurred. The family, visiting the Italian capital for sightseeing, was staying in the Gianicolense neighbourhood. On Thursday, October 24, Skyler, her parents, and her two siblings opted to have pizza as their first dinner in Italy at a restaurant called ‘I love pizza kebab’, located near their B&B. Shortly after the meal, Skyler, who had a peanut allergy, began experiencing symptoms including throat tightening, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, and tremors. Concerned, her parents sought help from the B&B staff who called emergency services. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, Skyler succumbed to anaphylactic shock before reaching San Camillo hospital.

According to Corriere della Sera, the British family had planned to visit the Vatican Museums the next day followed by the Colosseum and the Imperial Fora during their time in Rome.
