In response to the uproar, the North Sydney Firefighters Club issued an apology, disassociating themselves from the individuals involved in the incident. Cape Breton deputy fire chief Wade Gouthro publicly expressed remorse for the lack of action taken at the event and assured the community that such behaviour did not align with the values of the club. The Cape Breton Regional Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
