Rotary Club of Rutherglen helping others to wrap up and stay warm this winter

Rutherglen’s Rotarians are once again participating in the Wrap Up initiative to help others, including those who find themselves homeless during the winter season. Four local donation points have been established for the community to drop off good quality warm coats and jackets to assist those less fortunate in staying warm this winter. Last year, the appeal saw nearly 800 coats and jackets donated.

The drop-off points for donations are at Burnside Church, Croftfoot Church, St Bride’s Church in Cambuslang, and the United Reformed Church. Donation boxes will be available this Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3. The donated winter coats collected by volunteers undergo inspection to ensure cleanliness and good condition before being distributed.

Each garment is examined based on the Rotary Club motto, “Is this coat good enough for you to wear?” Only high-quality coats are provided to charitable organizations supporting homeless shelters, refugee centres, the elderly, women’s refuges, children’s centres, and other charities aiding people in crisis. The Rotarians work with these organizations to ensure that the coats reach those truly in need.

Donating a warm winter coat to the Wrap Up campaign can make a significant difference in someone’s life. By contributing to this initiative, members of the community are providing essential warmth and comfort to those facing challenges during the colder months. The Rotary Club of Rutherglen continues to show its commitment to supporting others in need through their charitable efforts.

In summary, the Rotary Club of Rutherglen is running a Winter Wrap Up campaign to collect warm coats and jackets for those in need, with four donation points set up in the community. The initiative aims to help homeless individuals and others facing hardship stay warm during the winter season. By donating a coat, community members can make a meaningful impact in supporting those less fortunate.
