A prison worker has confessed to engaging in an “inappropriate relationship” with Jordan McSweeney, the individual found guilty of murdering Zara Aleena. Hayley Jones and McSweeney were romantically involved between March 6 and April 7 last year at HMP Belmarsh in London, as revealed during a court hearing recently. Jones pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office for her involvement with McSweeney when she appeared in Woolwich Crown Court.
McSweeney, who faces additional charges of encouraging or assisting in the commission of a serious offense related to the relationship, did not attend the court hearing, citing difficulties with mobility. The court was informed that McSweeney was unable to participate in the proceedings due to challenges with walking, as reported by staff at HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire, where he is currently serving his sentence.
