Wishaw care home commemorated its 25th anniversary in grand style, with a special celebration attended by Provost Kenneth Duffy, residents, staff, and guests. The event at Netherton Care Home in Wishaw kicked off with a traditional Scottish welcome from a piper, followed by a delightful reception featuring canapés. Netherton Care Home Manager Hester Saarberg and Provost Duffy took the stage to acknowledge the dedicated staff and supportive community that have contributed to making Netherton a warm and caring environment for residents throughout the years.
The celebration continued with live entertainment, an auction, and a raffle, with prizes generously donated by the home’s suppliers. All proceeds from the auction and raffle are set to benefit Alzheimer Scotland, supporting ongoing research and care efforts. Provost Duffy commended the home, stating, “It’s a privilege to celebrate such a remarkable milestone with Netherton Care Home. The commitment of staff and the warmth of this community have made a true difference in the lives of so many people.”
Notable individuals were also recognised during the event, including Mrs. Liz Duffy, who was present at the home’s original opening 25 years ago, and the home’s longest-standing resident, Mrs. Mary McGuinness. The festivities highlighted the strong sense of community and dedication at Netherton Care Home that has shaped its legacy over the past quarter-century.
