Ayr Christmas Light switch-on details are unveiled
Residents of Ayr are in for a festive treat as details of the upcoming Christmas light switch-on event have been revealed by South Ayrshire Council. The event, known as the “Festive Family Fun” day, is set to take place in Ayr Town Centre on Sunday, November 17, from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. The day promises a variety of entertainment and activities for families to enjoy, including stage performances, Christmas markets, festive photo opportunities, and interactive attractions.
One of the highlights of the event will be a performance by Ayr’s very own The MacDonald Brothers, who will grace the Main Stage at 4.15pm. The brothers, along with South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell, will then lead the ceremonial switch-on of the Christmas lights at the Cutty Sark Centre at 5pm. The festivities will continue until 5.30pm, with various local talents taking the stage throughout the day.
In addition to the entertainment, two Christmas markets will be set up in The Grain Exchange and on the High Street, showcasing goods from local traders. Families can also visit Santa’s Grotto, write messages to Santa, participate in a Christmas Trail, and enjoy funfair rides suitable for all ages. Visitors will also have the opportunity to support local businesses by shopping in Ayr Town Centre and contributing to charity collections organised by South Ayrshire Council.
