Annan Christmas Lights Committee is gearing up for the festive season by fundraising for a free display and a switch-on event in the town. A dedicated group of volunteers is working hard to ensure that Annan’s town centre sparkles with Christmas lights. To support their efforts, the committee has released two beautiful charity Christmas cards for sale at local stores in the town. Priced at £1.50 each, the proceeds from the card sales will contribute towards illuminating the High Street and organising a budget-friendly switch-on event on Saturday, November 30.
Julie Pepper, a member of the committee, has set up a JustGiving Page aiming to raise £1,000 through public donations. The committee is also reaching out to local businesses for support. Julie expressed gratitude to those who have purchased cards, emphasizing the crucial role of local businesses in enabling the committee to provide free entertainment, Santa’s Grotto, face painting, and activities for all the children in Annan during the switch-on event.
In addition to fundraising efforts, the committee is hosting three free lantern workshops for children and the community to create lanterns for a parade before the switch-on ceremony. The festive celebrations on November 30 will include free entertainment on the High Street, a visit from Santa with gifts for every child, face painting, glitter tattoos, and craft fairs at The Corner House and The Market Hall. Individuals and groups are encouraged to join the lantern parade and participate in the day’s activities.
