Talented Alexandria Teenager Joins Helensburgh Oratorio Choir for Winter Concert
An exceptionally skilled teenager from Alexandria, Ben Miller, has been selected to join the Helensburgh Oratorio Choir for their upcoming winter performance. At just 18 years old, Ben has become part of the choir through its Choral Bursary program, showcasing his musical abilities. Currently enrolled in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a gap year student on a juniors piano program, Ben is enthusiastic about the opportunity to perform Mozart’s Requiem and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the choir on Sunday, November 17.

I believe this experience will not only open new musical horizons for me but also enhance my skills. I have applied for a place in the Bachelor of Music degree program with aspirations to establish myself as a successful professional musician.”

The choir’s winter concert, featuring Mozart’s Requiem and Bruckner’s Te Deum, will take place on November 17 from 7:30-9:30pm at Helensburgh Parish Church. The performance includes iconic movements from Mozart’s Requiem, some of which have been featured in various movie soundtracks. Additionally, Bruckner’s Te Deum, a tribute to the composer’s 200th Birthday on September 4, will be performed for the first time, showcasing Bruckner’s symphonic prowess and contribution to the Austro-German Romantic style.
Alicia added, “We are thrilled to present Requiem, Mozart’s final masterpiece, beloved by many. Accompanied by Derek Clark on the church organ and featuring exceptional soloists, the concert promises a memorable musical experience for all attendees.”
Soloists Monica Toll (Soprano), Sarah Shorter (Mezzo), David Walsh (Tenor), and Tim Edmunson (Bass) will be part of the choir’s rendition of Te Deum, a vibrant piece with powerful harmonies and energetic sections.
