Unique dance event showcasing local talent comes to Dumbarton High Street

A unique dance event showcasing local talent is set to take place on Dumbarton High Street this week, bringing an exciting and colourful performance to the community. Award-winning visual theatre makers Megahertz and arts producing house FERAL will present their STRUT performance, highlighting the skills of local dancers in a vibrant show.

The event will feature a dance performance and projection parade on the streets of Dumbarton, promising a spectacle of dramatic lighting, catchy beats, and stunning projections on everyday buildings. The show will include choreography from five local dance heroes, each representing a different dance style including ballet, contemporary, commercial, hip hop, Irish, funk, and soul.

Among the local dancers participating in the event is Isabella, who began her dance journey in West Dunbartonshire before pursuing a professional career in London. Another dancer, Wiktoria, is known for her Commercial and Hip Hop styles and sees dance as a form of escape and freedom. Tegan, a world champion Under-9s Irish Dancer, expresses her love for dance as it brings her joy and a sense of accomplishment. Kyle, a competitive lyrical and hip hop dancer, aims to boost his confidence through performance. Lastly, Salahdine, also known as Sal, a long-time Dumbarton resident, looks forward to his debut performance and stepping out of his comfort zone.

The event will be hosted by MC Steven Galloni, and it will kick off at 7.30pm in front of 21-35 Risk Street, making its way along the High Street and concluding at College Way. The community is invited to witness these local talents shine in an evening of music, dance, and celebration.
