Friends Launch Fundraiser to Send Scottish Mum-of-Three for Treatment in the US

A sudden illness has turned the life of Dana Gardiner, a Scottish mum-of-three, upside down, leaving her confined to a wheelchair. Friends of Dana have rallied together to launch a fundraiser aiming to raise £75,000 to send her to the United States for crucial treatment.

Dana is currently battling Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a condition that causes various symptoms including fainting, dizziness, and palpitations. In addition, she is also facing Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), which can lead to seizures, movement difficulties, and speech problems. The sudden onset of these conditions has left Dana unable to work or carry out daily tasks.

As the manager of Stirling’s Cold Beer Company pub, Dana’s colleagues have taken the initiative to start an online fundraiser to support her journey to a clinic in Arkansas for treatment. The fundraiser, set up by friend Nicola McGuinness, aims to raise £75,000 to cover the costs of the specialised treatment in the US.

In a heartfelt video shared by Nicola, Dana expressed her struggles and the impact of her conditions on her family life. She highlighted the challenges she faces on a daily basis, unable to perform basic tasks and missing out on simple joys with her family. Dana’s heartfelt plea for help resonated with many, with donations pouring in to support her cause.

The fundraiser has already seen significant contributions, with over £20,000 raised so far, including a generous £10,000 donation. Every small donation is a step towards helping Dana access the treatment she urgently needs to improve her quality of life.

Dana’s story is a testament to the strength and resilience of individuals facing unexpected health challenges. The outpouring of support from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers highlights the power of community in times of adversity. As Dana embarks on her journey towards recovery, the unity and generosity of those around her serve as a beacon of hope and compassion.

In conclusion, Dana’s story sheds light on the importance of standing together in times of need, offering support and hope to those facing challenging circumstances. The fundraiser not only aims to provide financial assistance but also serves as a symbol of solidarity and care for a member of the community in need. Let us continue to rally behind Dana and others like her, demonstrating the strength of unity and compassion in overcoming life’s obstacles.
