“These are some common symptoms of colon cancer (bowel cancer),” he stated. “Unintentional weight loss, bleeding from the rectum or blood in the stool, a persistent change in bowel habits that is unusual for you – either more frequent bowel movements with looser stools or less frequent with harder stools. Persistent abdominal pain, discomfort or bloating.”

Dr Raj highlighted that while most people with these symptoms might not have bowel cancer, 90% of bowel cancer patients experience at least one or a combination of these symptoms. Individuals experiencing one or more of these symptoms for over four weeks are advised to consult their doctor.

His informative video has garnered over 57,000 views and sparked numerous comments, with some individuals sharing their own poignant battles with the disease. One user shared, “This is what my grandad currently faces.” Another revealed, “I have all these symptoms, except for weight loss. Scheduled for a second colon cancer test in a few days.” A third person shared, “I had symptoms for years, but my GP dismissed them. After switching GPs, a substantial tumour was removed – that was 11 years ago. I’m grateful to be here.”
