Erskine man caught sending disturbing messages to undercover cop posing as 10-year-old girl
A man from Erskine has been exposed for sending reprehensible sexual messages to someone he believed was a 10-year-old girl. Mark Fraser, a 50-year-old individual, confessed to sending a series of indecent messages to an undercover police officer who was pretending to be a young girl. In these messages, Fraser referred to the age of 10 as “cute” and “sexy,” and even claimed to have engaged in sexual activities with a young girl in his vicinity.
During a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, Procurator fiscal depute Alyson McLaughlan disclosed that Fraser engaged in a chat conversation with an undercover officer on November 8, 2022. Unaware of the officer’s identity, Fraser expressed disturbing sentiments about the supposed child’s body and made inappropriate remarks throughout the conversation. Subsequent to this exchange, authorities conducted a search at Fraser’s residence, where they discovered illicit images of child sexual exploitation on his mobile phone.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Fraser detailed explicit descriptions of a young girl, including comments about her physical features, which he portrayed in a disturbing and sexual manner. Fraser’s mobile phone, which was seized during the investigation, contained Category C images of young girls aged between six and eight years old. Despite being confronted with evidence of his conversations and the contents of his phone, Fraser admitted to engaging in sexual discussions with individuals online but claimed he could not recollect the specific conversation in question.
Following these distressing revelations, the Crown requested Fraser be subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, with additional charges against him for possession of cannabis. While Fraser denied the drug-related allegations, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register and is awaiting sentencing next month, pending further assessments and reports. The court’s decision on imposing a sexual offences prevention order has been postponed to a later date.
