Larkhall & District Volunteer Group Receives Generous Grant from Housebuilder
Larkhall & District Volunteer Group (LDVG) is thrilled to announce a substantial £5,000 donation from Persimmon West Scotland, enhancing their ability to continue their essential work supporting the local community. LDVG’s primary focus is on enhancing the well-being of older adults and combatting social isolation by offering various services and activities.
With a membership of 360 individuals and a volunteer team of 96, LDVG operates key initiatives such as a weekday check-in call service for vulnerable members of the community, lunch clubs providing nutritious meals and social engagement, as well as a free handyperson service to aid elderly and disabled residents with minor DIY tasks.
The generous donation from Persimmon will enable LDVG to sustain a range of activity groups, including IT classes, gardening sessions, and walking clubs. Additionally, the funding will support their community transport service, ensuring crucial access to shopping and NHS appointments for older residents in the area.
Persimmon’s contribution is part of their Community Champions scheme, which aims to support local charities and causes in the regions where the company operates. Over the past five years, the programme has dispersed over £360,000 throughout Scotland, fostering stronger and more connected communities.
