A roadworker in Cowie has been released from prison after chasing a man with a chainsaw, only to discover that the chainsaw did not have a chain attached. The incident occurred near a property in Hilton, Cowie, on the evening of March 9 this year.
According to reports, Adam Munro, 27, confronted a 20-year-old man with the chainsaw, causing the man to fall and sustain minor scratches to his calf. Despite the initial confrontation, the man was able to chase Munro away.
During the court hearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court, Munro pleaded guilty to assault. His defence solicitor, Fraser McCready, explained that Munro had been under the influence of cocaine at the time of the incident and had reacted impulsively to a disagreement at his door.
McCready revealed that the man who was chased with the chainsaw had expressed his preference for the case not to proceed. Furthermore, it was noted that there was no actual chain attached to the chainsaw during the incident.
Munro, who had spent eight months in prison awaiting his case’s resolution, was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work and placed under social work supervision for three years. Sheriff Maryam Labaki acknowledged the seriousness of the matter but opted for an alternative to custody, allowing Munro to be released immediately.
