Lanark gears up for a festive season filled with Christmas events, as reported by The Daily Record. The town is ready to kickstart the celebrations with the switching on of the Christmas lights this weekend, on November 16. Alongside the lights switch-on, Lanark will host a Christmas market on High Street boasting more than 70 stalls, open from 10am to 5.30pm. The festivities begin with live entertainment at 2pm, including music, games, and family fun, culminating in a special visit from Santa at 5pm to illuminate the town for the Christmas season.
The festive cheer continues with the illuminated Lanimer parade on Friday, November 22, featuring festive performances and late-night seasonal shopping from 5pm to 8pm at local stores. On Saturday, December 7, a Christmas pop-up market will welcome over 30 local artisans and producers from 10am to 3pm, offering the perfect opportunity to find unique, locally-made gifts in a festive setting. Families can look forward to two Saturdays filled with fun on December 14 and 21, as Santa, accompanied by his elves and Poppy the penguin, will be at the Tolbooth from 11.30am to 3.30pm for photos, storytelling, crafts, and a meet and greet.
