A mother from Renfrew has been prohibited from driving after causing an accident that left a pensioner with a fractured shoulder. Danielle Murray was behind the wheel of her Nissan Juke when she collided with a 79-year-old woman in Renfrew in November 2022. Murray, residing on Fulbar Street, confessed to dangerous driving by exceeding the speed limit on the opposite lane and failing to maintain a proper lookout. The 30-year-old driver took a sharp turn at a junction, intersecting with Margaret Spalding and causing her to fall. Mrs. Spalding sustained a fractured shoulder from the impact, significantly impacting her daily life post-accident.
During the trial at Paisley Sheriff Court, Procurator Fiscal Depute Alyson McLaughlan revealed that both Muir Street and Hairst Street had a speed restriction of 30mph. Despite the incident occurring during daylight, poor visibility due to heavy rain added to the dangerous driving conditions.
