Young Cubs from Burnside enjoyed a weekend away at camp in the great outdoors. The group of 20 Cubs stayed at Lapwing Lodge in the Gleniffer Braes near Paisley for their third camp of the year. Many of the young campers were experiencing being away from their families for the first time, but they all adapted well, gaining valuable life skills, building confidence, and resilience.
The winter weekend camp was a hit with the enthusiastic young Scouts, offering a variety of activities suitable for everyone. From archery and laser tag in the woods to nerf wars and spooky crafts, the Cubs had a fantastic time. They even earned their Entertainer badge by showcasing Halloween-themed sketches and jokes. Cub Leader Anne Small highlighted the support and encouragement the Cubs showed each other during the camp.
The camp was not only a fun experience but also a learning opportunity for the Cubs. The event allowed them to bond with other Scouts, make new friends, and participate in activities organised by Scottish scouting volunteers. The Cubs from the 113th and 137th Scout packs had recently enjoyed a wild and exciting weekend camp in Fife, joining around 500 Cubs from across Scotland for a memorable experience.
Looking ahead, the Squirrels from the 113th Burnside are gearing up for an indoor camp in February, while the Beavers are planning a weekend away in spring. These upcoming events will continue to provide young Scouts with opportunities for adventure, learning, and camaraderie.
